Generally, the mehndi / henna designs will get darker during the first few hours after removing the dried paste off. During this time, avoid contact with water, soap and moisturizers. If the design is still light in color after this period, it could be due to the area of the skin where it was applied is not as porous as elsewhere, the mehndi / henna paste was on left on long enough, or the henna powder was not fresh.
