How long should the mehndi / henna be left on?

It takes about 2 to 4 hours time for skin to absorb the mehndi / henna dye, and the dye has to remain wet to work. To keep the dye wet, we suggest you to apply the mixture of lemon juice and sugar to your hands after the mehndi / henna is applied, using a patting motion using a cotton swab.
